Kendall Owens

Kendall Owens was born in Oakland, California and attended Castro Valley High School. In high school, Kendall struggled academically but through mentorship he found the inspiration to graduate. After graduating from high school, he attended Chabot College, where he found confidence in his academic abilities. During his time at Chabot College, he was an active student in the Umoja Community. The Umoja Community is a program dedicated to enhancing the cultural and educational experiences of African-American and other students. Kendall balanced working two jobs while he was a full-time student. As a teacher's assistant, he discovered his passion for working with students. He went on to attend the University of California, Davis where he received Bachelor of Arts Degree in English and a minor in Education. Due to his experience as a struggling and underrepresented student, Kendall is passionate about assisting and supporting under resourced, low income, and first-generation students.
