Cameron Schmidt-Temple

College Adviser Fellow, Deer Valley High School

Cameron Schmidt-Temple is a first-generation college graduate from Oakland, CA. Upon graduating from Deer Valley High School in 2015, he began his higher education journey at Diablo Valley College before transferring to UCLA in the fall of 2017. Experiencing a lack of institutional support throughout his high school career, Cameron grew passionate to essentialize higher education in the various communities he served. As an undergraduate he studied Psychology and Education while simultaneously participating in student leadership, research, and activism. Some of his former commitments include chairing UCLA’s annual Higher Education Conference, conducting research with UCLA’s Black Male Institute, and interning for the Marcus Foster Education Institute in Oakland, CA. With a motivation to secure equity for people of color, Cameron’s career goals are centered around institutionally increasing access to higher education for systematically disenfranchised students.
