Anthony "Taylor" O'Brien

College Adviser Fellow, James Logan High School

Anthony "Taylor" Soberano O'Brien is a recent graduate from UC Santa Cruz with a B.S. in Ecology & Evolutionary Biology. Aside from Santa Cruz, Taylor grew up first in Modesto, CA before moving to Chico, CA for middle and high school. However, Taylor's roots are in the Philippines and is one of the many Pilipinx youth living as a product of the diaspora. Taylor first found his community at UC Santa Cruz where he was outreached to join various A/ PI spaces. Of the organizing and programming he has done, the most loving and fulfilling event is Motivation Conference -- a 3-day conference for marginalized Southeast Asian and Pacific Islander high school youth. Taylor co-coordinated this program for two years straight and developed deep bonds with his youth cohorts. Taylor hopes to continue this work in DCAC, especially seeking to support the students who are minorities within a minority.
