Solano Regional Manager/ SCEC Associate Director
Teresa immigrated to the Bay Area from Mexico, Guadalajara when she was eight years old. She grew up in Oakland and participated in Upward Bound as an incoming senior before she graduated from Fremont High School. She was privileged to be a part of the Educational Opportunity Program during her college years, which provided her with financial support, guidance, and mentorship to graduate from college. She graduated from CSU Chico with a BA in Spanish and Psychology. She understands the challenges that many first-generation, low-income students face on their journey to attend and graduate from college/university. Through her personal experiences and involvement with college access programs, she developed a deep passion and commitment to working towards educational equity and social advocacy by creating a comprehensive college preparation programming, including the initiation of DCAC. Teresa has worked directly with students, families, school site administrators, teachers, and counselors within the K-16 public schools to ensure that students meet their academic and personal goals to remind society/the community that Education is a Human Right!
