West Contra Costa Regional Manager
Emerald was born in Vietnam and grew up in Oakland. She is a proud product of Oakland schools and outreach programs similar to DCAC. With the support of her family and various key mentors, she was admitted to UC Berkeley and earned her degree in Sociology. She has always envisioned herself working in a career that gives back to the community that raised her. Emerald found her passion for education during her sophomore year in college while working as a mentor/college adviser at a local high school in Oakland. That experience solidified her life goal to be a vehicle for change and to ensure all students have an equitable education and personal success. Finding her passion for education and serving underserved communities inspired her to pursue an advanced degree in counseling. Soon after, she obtained my master’s in Educational Counseling with a PSS credential from San Jose State University. As a Regional Manager, she is excited and committed to support and guide the next generation of educators and change agents. Emerald is a proud mother of two wonderful boys. She is a lifelong traveler, foodie, and learner of cultures. She is blessed to be surrounded by her loving family, amazing educators, and lifelong mentors who guide and support her through this much-needed work.
