College Adviser Fellow, Hayward High School
The best way to grow as a person is through life experiences. Growing up in East Oakland and graduating from the Oakland Unified School District has taught Patricia to be a strong person and to never give up on her dreams. Leaving home for college was an experience that made Patricia more independent because it was the first time in her life where she was alone. In college holding multiple officer positions such as President and Vice President, taught her how to work with other adults as a team. Being able to do research during her undergrad opened a new perspective and field of interest. Graduating from UC Merced a semester early made her more determine to take advantage of the resources she had when she moved back home. Shortly, she started working as a College Advisor in Oakland, CA serving high school students in helping them find their path after graduation. Knowing that she is doing a good service to adolescents getting them into a direction that they wish to take and will benefit from, is a service that she is happy and proud to be a part of.
