Emilio Sánchez

College Adviser Fellow, James Lick High School

Emilio Sánchez is a Bay Area native, born and raised in East Oakland. He attended Santa Clara University and graduated with a degree in Sociology, Communication, and Spanish. During his undergraduate career he worked with the Washington Elementary School community of San José. He had the opportunity to both mentor young elementary students through STEM-focused projects and art while simultaneously supporting their parents through college access workshops and presentations. Through this experience and his involvement in various student advocacy groups, he has developed passion for social justice and supporting communities of color. He owes his accomplishments and opportunities to his parents and older brother who have sacrificed much of their lives in order to better him and his younger brother. He seeks to attend graduate school in the near future to further his studies in Education.
